What to highlight at your experience level

Fresher / 0-2 years

Show one or two apps or flows you built end to end, with the data source (SharePoint, Dataverse, Excel) and who used them. Microsoft's PL-900 is a reasonable first certification to mention.

2-5 years

Show model-driven and canvas apps, Dataverse design, solution-based deployments and connectors to other systems. Mention PL-200 or PL-400 if you have them, and how many users or processes your work supports.

5+ years

Show environment strategy, ALM with pipelines, governance and the CoE Starter Kit, plus pro-code extensions with plugins, PCF controls or Azure Functions. Mention the makers and developers you guided.

Common Power Platform Developer resume mistakes

  • Listing "Power Apps, Power Automate" with no apps or flows described.
  • Not saying whether you built canvas or model-driven apps - recruiters often hire for one or the other.
  • Leaving out licensing, performance or delegation limits you worked around. It shows real production experience.
  • Not showing ALM. Solutions, environments and deployment pipelines matter for most mid and senior roles.
  • Using images or icons for skills, which ATS tools cannot read. Write the skill names as plain text.

Weak vs strong resume bullet points

The strong versions say what you did, with which tool, and what changed because of it.

Weak: Built Power Apps for business users.

Strong: Built a canvas app on Dataverse for site engineers to log inspections from phones, replacing paper forms for around 120 users across 9 sites.

Weak: Created flows in Power Automate.

Strong: Automated purchase request approvals with Power Automate and Teams adaptive cards, cutting average approval time from 4 days to under 1.

Weak: Worked on deployment.

Strong: Moved all apps into managed solutions with Power Platform pipelines across dev, test and prod, ending manual exports and the errors that came with them.

Frequently asked questions

Which Microsoft certifications help a Power Platform developer resume?

PL-900 covers the fundamentals, PL-200 is for functional consultants, and PL-400 is the developer exam. Microsoft retires and renames exams from time to time, so check Microsoft Learn for the current list and use the exact name on your resume.

Should I include SharePoint and Power BI on a Power Platform resume?

Yes, if you have used them. Many Power Apps and flows sit on SharePoint lists, and Power BI often comes in the same job descriptions. Show how they connected to the apps you built rather than listing them separately.

Is this resume checker free?

Yes. You can upload your resume and see the results without creating an account. If you sign up later with the same email, the full report and your job matches are saved to your profile.

What does the checker look at?

It reads your resume the way an ATS and a recruiter would: the role it fits, your experience level, the skills it finds, and how clearly your work and results come across. You get strengths and areas to improve.

What happens to my resume after I upload it?

It is saved to a RoleMapr profile under the email in your resume, and that profile is visible to recruiters looking for candidates. We email that address a link to remove it at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.
