Free ATS Resume Checker for Sales & Business Development Professionals

Recruiters hiring for sales and business development look for numbers first - targets, achievement, revenue, deal size and accounts handled - then the kind of sales you did, such as inside sales, enterprise or channel. Upload your resume to see how it reads, which sales skills it shows, and what to improve before you apply.

By uploading, you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy. Your CV is saved to a RoleMapr profile under the email in it, and that profile is visible to recruiters - even before you create an account.

What to highlight at your experience level

Fresher / 0-2 years

Show your activity and early results - calls, demos booked, meetings set and any deals you closed or helped close. Internships, college fest sponsorships or a part-time sales role are worth including with numbers.

2-5 years

Show your quota and how you did against it, year by year, with average deal size and the type of customers you sold to. Mention the CRM you used, your sales cycle and the regions or industries you covered.

5+ years

Show the revenue, region or key accounts you owned, the team you led and how you built pipeline and partnerships. Recruiters look for consistent target achievement, large deals and new markets you opened.

Common Sales & Business Development resume mistakes

  • No numbers. Sales resumes are read for targets, achievement, revenue and deal size - without them, the resume looks weak.
  • Not saying what you sold or to whom - SaaS, IT services, BFSI products, industrial goods; SMB or enterprise; India or global markets.
  • Using percentages without context. "Achieved 120% of target" is clearer with the target value and the period.
  • Listing duties like "cold calling and lead generation" instead of what those calls produced.
  • Using tables, icons or two-column layouts that ATS software can misread. A simple single-column PDF is safest.

Weak vs strong resume bullet points

The strong versions say what you did, with which tool, and what changed because of it.

Weak: Responsible for achieving sales targets.

Strong: Closed Rs 1.8 crore in new annual contracts for a B2B SaaS HR product in FY24, 118% of an annual target of Rs 1.5 crore, selling to mid-size companies in South India.

Weak: Did cold calling and lead generation.

Strong: Built outbound pipeline using LinkedIn Sales Navigator and cold email for an IT services firm, booking about 25 qualified meetings a month with US and UK prospects and contributing to 4 new logos.

Weak: Managed channel partners.

Strong: Onboarded and trained 14 distributors across Tier 2 cities in Uttar Pradesh for a consumer electronics brand, growing secondary sales in the territory by about 35% year on year.

Frequently asked questions

How do I show target achievement on a sales resume?

Write the target, what you achieved and the period - for example "Rs 1.2 crore against a target of Rs 1 crore in FY24". If you were ranked in your team or won awards, add that too. Keep figures consistent and be ready to explain them in interviews.

Should I mention the CRM tools I used?

Yes. Many sales job descriptions ask for Salesforce, HubSpot or Zoho CRM, and recruiters often search for them. Mention the tool next to how you used it, such as pipeline tracking or forecasting.

Is this resume checker free?

Yes. You can upload your resume and see the results without creating an account. If you sign up later with the same email, the full report and your job matches are saved to your profile.

What does the checker look at?

It reads your resume the way an ATS and a recruiter would: the role it fits, your experience level, the skills it finds, and how clearly your work and results come across. You get strengths and areas to improve.

What happens to my resume after I upload it?

It is saved to a RoleMapr profile under the email in your resume, and that profile is visible to recruiters looking for candidates. We email that address a link to remove it at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.
