Free ATS Resume Checker for Site Reliability Engineers
Recruiters hiring site reliability engineers look for strong Linux and coding fundamentals, Kubernetes and cloud experience, and evidence that you kept production systems healthy - SLOs, monitoring, incident response and automation. Upload your resume to see how it reads, which SRE skills it shows, and what to improve before you apply.
By uploading, you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy. Your CV is saved to a RoleMapr profile under the email in it, and that profile is visible to recruiters - even before you create an account.

What to highlight at your experience level
Fresher / 0-2 years
Show solid Linux, networking and scripting (Python or Go) basics, plus hands-on monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana. If you have done production support or on-call, say so - it is relevant experience even if the title was different.
2-5 years
Show incidents you handled and the fixes that stopped them recurring, SLOs you defined or tracked, and toil you automated away. Mention the scale you worked at - services, traffic or clusters.
5+ years
Show reliability strategy - error budgets and SLO policy, observability standards, capacity planning, chaos testing, and how you shaped incident culture and on-call across teams.
Common Site Reliability Engineer resume mistakes
- Writing an SRE resume that reads like a pure DevOps one. Add reliability outcomes - uptime, latency, incident counts, recovery time.
- Leaving out coding. SRE roles expect you to write real automation in Python or Go, so show what you built.
- Describing incidents vaguely. "Handled production issues" says less than the root cause you found and the fix you shipped.
- Packing tools into a dense skills table that some ATS software reads in the wrong order. Simple comma-separated lists are safer.
- Not mentioning on-call or postmortems, which are core parts of the job that many recruiters look for.
Weak vs strong resume bullet points
The strong versions say what you did, with which tool, and what changed because of it.
Weak: Handled production incidents.
Strong: Led the response to a database connection-pool outage on the checkout service, wrote the blameless postmortem and added connection-limit alerts so the same failure was caught early afterwards.
Weak: Set up monitoring.
Strong: Defined latency and availability SLOs for 8 customer-facing APIs and built Prometheus alerts on error-budget burn, cutting noisy pages so on-call engineers only woke up for real problems.
Weak: Automated manual tasks using scripts.
Strong: Wrote a Python tool to automate certificate renewal and node rotation on Kubernetes clusters, removing a recurring weekend task that had caused two expired-certificate outages.

What is the difference between an SRE and a DevOps engineer resume?
Both share tools like Kubernetes, Terraform and CI/CD. An SRE resume should put more weight on production reliability - SLOs, incident response, observability and the code you wrote to reduce manual work. A DevOps resume usually leads with pipelines and infrastructure automation.
Can a support or operations engineer move into an SRE role?
Yes, it is a common path. Highlight production troubleshooting, on-call experience and any scripts or automation you wrote, and build up your coding and Kubernetes skills. Bullets that show you fixed root causes rather than just restarting services help most.
Is this resume checker free?
Yes. You can upload your resume and see the results without creating an account. If you sign up later with the same email, the full report and your job matches are saved to your profile.
What does the checker look at?
It reads your resume the way an ATS and a recruiter would: the role it fits, your experience level, the skills it finds, and how clearly your work and results come across. You get strengths and areas to improve.
What happens to my resume after I upload it?
It is saved to a RoleMapr profile under the email in your resume, and that profile is visible to recruiters looking for candidates. We email that address a link to remove it at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.
