Free ATS Resume Checker for HR Professionals

Recruiters hiring HR professionals look at which part of HR you have handled - operations, payroll, HRBP, engagement or L&D - the HRMS you have used, and how well you know Indian labour law and compliance. Upload your resume to see how it reads, which HR skills it shows, and what to improve before you apply.

By uploading, you agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy. Your CV is saved to a RoleMapr profile under the email in it, and that profile is visible to recruiters - even before you create an account.

What to highlight at your experience level

Fresher / 0-2 years

Show your MBA or PGDM in HR and any internships, then the practical work - onboarding, attendance and leave records, employee data in an HRMS, joining formalities. Comfort with Excel is worth mentioning plainly.

2-5 years

Show the processes you owned - payroll inputs, PF and ESI compliance, performance review cycles, engagement programmes - and for how many employees. Mention HRMS tools and improvements like faster query resolution or lower attrition in your units.

5+ years

Show business partnership - the functions or sites you supported, policies you wrote, restructuring or culture work you led, and how you used HR data with leadership. Mention team size and employee count.

Common HR resume mistakes

  • Writing "handled end-to-end HR" without breaking it down into the actual work - payroll, compliance, engagement, exits.
  • Not mentioning employee count or the number of sites. Supporting 80 people and 3,000 people are very different jobs.
  • Leaving out HRMS and payroll tools such as Darwinbox, SAP SuccessFactors, Keka or greytHR.
  • Filling the resume with soft skills like "people person" instead of examples of what you handled.
  • Using a heavily designed template with a photo and icons. Many ATS tools read plain single-column text more reliably.

Weak vs strong resume bullet points

The strong versions say what you did, with which tool, and what changed because of it.

Weak: Handled employee engagement activities.

Strong: Ran quarterly pulse surveys for a 600-person plant and worked with managers on the top two issues, helping bring voluntary attrition down over the following year.

Weak: Responsible for payroll.

Strong: Processed monthly payroll inputs for about 450 employees in greytHR and filed PF, ESI and PT returns on time, with no compliance notices during the year.

Weak: Worked on the performance management process.

Strong: Moved the annual appraisal cycle from email and Excel to Darwinbox, training 60 managers and completing reviews two weeks earlier than the previous year.

Frequently asked questions

Is SHRM certification useful for an HR resume in India?

SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP are recognised by many multinational companies and can help, especially for HRBP and generalist roles. They are not required for most jobs - an MBA or PGDM in HR plus clear experience matter more to most recruiters.

How do I move from recruitment into a generalist HR role?

Highlight the HR work you already do beyond hiring - onboarding, offer letters, joining formalities, HRMS data - and take on operations or engagement tasks in your current job if you can. Then list them clearly on your resume, with the number of employees involved.

Is this resume checker free?

Yes. You can upload your resume and see the results without creating an account. If you sign up later with the same email, the full report and your job matches are saved to your profile.

What does the checker look at?

It reads your resume the way an ATS and a recruiter would: the role it fits, your experience level, the skills it finds, and how clearly your work and results come across. You get strengths and areas to improve.

What happens to my resume after I upload it?

It is saved to a RoleMapr profile under the email in your resume, and that profile is visible to recruiters looking for candidates. We email that address a link to remove it at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.
